Kristin Hyde

Colour energizes me- it feeds my soul. I’m in my happy place when I’m creating or am surrounded by colour.
I’m an intuitive and emerging mixed media and textile artist with an interest in Jewellery making- more recently with an interest in silversmithing. My other interests are eco printing, photography and travel. I’ve always dabbled in some form of creative activity - however I’m mainly a self taught artist currently taking classes in person in silversmithing.

I love taking fibres and creating an original piece of wearable art, by tufting, wetting and rolling. My scarves have found homes world wide. I also enjoy eco-dying and printing. Taking nature’s bounty and producing beautiful patterns from leaves, flowers and other natural products. Originally growing up in Wellington- Auckland has been my home for the past 35 years. I live at the Bombay Hills on the outskirts of Auckland where my creative space, with a rural outlook is surrounded by trees, a stream and all sorts of various bird life. It’s my sanctuary, from where I draw much of my inspiration.
I often travel from time to time which also provides inspiration.
